Recommended manufacturer box volume (ft^3)
I am getting an Alpine Type R (SWR-1041D) for my Alpine
MRP-M350 subwoofer, and the manufacturer's recommended
box volume is 0.5ft^3 to 0.8ft^3.
Is it best to stay within the boundaries of recommended volume
or sometimes is it good to go over?
Right now the sealed box I have planned is about 0.78ft^3

But.. don't you find Alpines specs a bit too small? I mean.. c'mon.. they recommend a max of 1.25 cubic for a vented box. Doesn't that seem a little unreasonable?
I'm still struggling with the decision for box size for my Type R

i rarely build boxes to manufacturers spec, but after you build your first couple hundred boxes, you kinda get a sense of what works, and what wont. Boxes arent as specific as alot of people think. Dont get me wrong, if you build the wrong box, the woofer will be HORRIBLE, but you can make alot of changes to a box, as long as you change everything to match...Ie. you can make a ported box twice the size as the factory recommends as long as the port area is increased correctly also.

I'll build a sealed box to the manufacturers' recommendations though cuz I figure, what the hell, it's sealed so all the performance is gone anyway
