so what do you think guys?
ok so i have broken outside the box a bit here...(the rectangular box that is)...into a wedge type box... check it out.this is my speaker http://www.madisound.com/catal...A.pdf .... these drawings are to scale. 1 box equals one square inch
so here are the specs...the inside box volume is 1.135ft squared tuned to 35Hz. with a port length of 11.82" though only ~10" is actually in the "working box" this ive calculated will give me 1 sq foot once port(only located inside "working" box, port bracket, sub, and terminal cup are subtracted(that all equals0.1332 if my calculations are correct) ... as you can see in the first picture (which is a level view from the front..the sub is not perfectly round cause of the angle you're viewing it from.) i added elongated top, bottom, front, and back "sides" so that i can wrap the carpet around onto the actual right and left sides of the box and cover the messy end of the carpet with an insert just a bit smaller than the actual size. read about it online...seems like a good idea the only thing i'm really concerned about is the port height from the bottom of the box.i,ve read you should be 3 inches from all sides to the opening...but there is ample room for air to enter...do you think this will cause problems? i tried a few different spots with this box size and this seems like it is the best and easiest to support. the overall outside working dimensions are as follows(they changed slightly since i drew it to scale)height =18", width =16", depth1= 3", depth2= 16.40" so i'm planning on building this thing sunday before the eagles whoop up on the vikings (american football) any advice or problems or ideas would be great...and what about this port?

I wouldnt worry about the port. I did this all the time on truck boxes - ported out the side. There were no ill effects that i (or others) could hear, although im sure someone will say differently. Try it and tell us how good it sounds.
