I was thinking of gutting a center console and fibreglassing the inside to make a sealed box. I did up a mdf design that would work, but i really want a factory look because it is going between the front seats. Does anyone have experience bonding fibreglass to plastic? And would the heat from the resin melt the plastic. No one makes a stealthbox for a 2005 Montana (big surprise) so i gotta do it myself. I have a bit of fibreglass experience(model boats) but any feedback would help. Thanks

 

I had a mini-van as well, and tried various locations, the side mounted sub worked, but not too well, putting the subs in the rear door created other problems, a center console cabinet didn't work well, the best result was raising the floor in the back, or dropping a removable cabinet behind the rear seat/ or custom building rear seat/cabinet.

 

If you keep your mix cool and rough up the inside of the plastic with some 40grit then you should have no problems with bonding or warping. I did something similar to this but with all wood back in the early 90s for a full size Blazer. I cut the console in half and built the cabinet inside it.

An easy out, but not the cheapest out, would be to consider the JL stealthbox for the GM pickups. IF the console out of the pickup fits the van..
