hi guys. just had a couple of questions. i was wondering, if i run 1/0 guage all the way back to my trunk from the battery, then into a FUSED block that splits into (2) 4 guage pieces connected to 2 amps, do i still have to inline fuse it at the battery 18 inches away from the positive post??

also, are you supposed to put an inline fuse 18 inches away from the positive post on the battery in the wire that goes from the pos. terminal to the alternator when doing the "Big3" with 1/0 guage as well ??

and finally, what size of fuse should be used? i have a 80amp alternator, so would that answer my question?

thanks!

The fuse size will depend on the amps your running.

What do you plan on running?

I believe so. I think you are always supposed to fuse things when you are connecting them to the battery.

No need to fuse between the battery and alternator.
but i thought many people said fuse this area between the alt. to batt. ? why do you think that its not neceesary? thx

now the fuse from the battery to the amps. should it be the TOTAL size fuse of the 2 smaller fuses in the distribution block? for example, i have 2 JL 500.1 amps. in the block i will put (2) 50 amp fuses coz thats what JL says to do. so at the battery, should i put a 100 amp fuse?

i usually go about 25% larger than the total draw of the amps
when fuse come close to there rating they heat up and become a lose
so going larger at the battery will not hurt

so around 250 amp fuse for the "big 3" AND the amp fuse link if using 1/0 guage?? you mean you dont go by the JL's recommended sizes ?
