1/0 guage questions?
#1
hi guys. just had a couple of questions. i was wondering, if i run 1/0 guage all the way back to my trunk from the battery, then into a FUSED block that splits into (2) 4 guage pieces connected to 2 amps, do i still have to inline fuse it at the battery 18 inches away from the positive post??
also, are you supposed to put an inline fuse 18 inches away from the positive post on the battery in the wire that goes from the pos. terminal to the alternator when doing the "Big3" with 1/0 guage as well ??
and finally, what size of fuse should be used? i have a 80amp alternator, so would that answer my question?
thanks!

The reason to fuse within 18 inches of the battery is to protect your car, not your stereo. If you run the wire along the sill and someone hits the side of your car, the wire could be pinched, without a fuse the short circuit could cause your carpeting to catch fire. No need to fuse between the battery and alternator.

now the fuse from the battery to the amps. should it be the TOTAL size fuse of the 2 smaller fuses in the distribution block? for example, i have 2 JL 500.1 amps. in the block i will put (2) 50 amp fuses coz thats what JL says to do. so at the battery, should i put a 100 amp fuse?

You don't need a fuse from the battery to the alternator. The factory never put one there and the wire does not pass through metal. It's chances of being compromised are little
Also, since both have current potential when the motor is running you would need a fuse at each end of the wire.
