just browsing ans saw this and yeah you got max and rms mixxed up lol, i have never seen a sub with a higher rms then max lol.

to bad it blew up, those type r's are nice.

that's the old type r, it's rated 300 watts rms...so no surprise it smoked with 1200.

ive heard people putting 1000-1300 rms and it liked it alote.. id say in between their your safe

it seems true, as I put 1000 into one of mine when I first got it for at least 3 minutes before I got worried. Amp was an RF t10000 and the song was snoop doggy dog...sounded great and friggin loud, but it scared me and I didn't want to buy another one.

Hey look I'm not doubting that people have run them for short periods of time or even burps and even on ROE some of them are hooked up to 1000-1300w mono block but the impendence is not reported on most so it may not be pulling full power from the amps so you can't really use that as a good reference. But you can use the one smoked above. Eventually the power will get the best of that driver.
