Are 15" subs still generally used in a setup?

strange thread but fun to read.
I love my 4 15's.....the box is 10cuft plus amp rack, caps and big-*** cross-over in all the 'pretty panels'....yes, a full size van is hard to fill with sound.....

I can find new 15" subs that take 500WRMS for less than $250 a pair any day of the week....whether they sound "better" than comparably priced 12s is open for debate.....my $0.02 worth says it's enclosure dependant.....

15's can fit in small boxes take gobs of power and sound better than 90% of the 10" subs out there.

It's all in buying good equipment and matching it to your needs. It always involves a custom box and fine tuning..

Buying 15's that were designed on a motor for 12" subs is where things get funky.

Sorry.
The cheap ones I've seen where 8ohms and they weren't home subs either(rockford fosgayte). I got the impression he wanted the cheap stuff. I know that the size of the sub has nothing to do with impedance.

I'd love to but there's the small problem with you can't hit people at work, not only do they have an 8ohm sub their using a 50 watt amp in .5cuft box and complaining about how it sounds.

Some of the people where I live aren't the most educated.

For space+weight+powering/output a single 15" sealed is my favourite option.
