Do it right and get the GM chime module, I could get you one for $120.00. Also if your check engine light were to come on, you can not reset it if you do not use the GM chime module.

IT IS ILLEGAL IN CANADA TO REMOVE A SAFETY DEVICE. The class II databus circuit and the chime module specifically is classed as a SAFETY DEVICE. Why? In Canada seatbelts are mandatory. The seatbelt reminder, well, lets think about it for a minute, runs through the chime module. While it may be a PITA for some people, it is what sets a prefessional installer or business aside from the backyard hacks that think they know it all. And we just proved that they don't. The day that one of your "customers" has a accident and in the lawyers world of today, you are setting yourself up for a major lawsuit. Why....."I did not think to put my seatbelt on sir", Why not "because the chime module did not tell me to". And that is the end of your life as you know it. Sure the guy should have had enough common sense to put his seatbelt on the same way you as a paid MECP certified installer should have done the job properly and correctly for the paying customer.

Even with the stupid light there are the people that still don't wear there seatbelts. The people that feel its okey to drink as well,do they make sure a little light isit flashing before they dirve and go hit the mom and her son.O but i had my seatbelt on its okey

Really all it comes down to is common sense,if you know your suppost to buckle up then buckle up.

I've done about 8 sunfires now and about 6 Cavailers and not one mark my word has come back.Saying they don't have the flashing light and chimes,i had two customers even give me acuple bucks extra because i put them in the right direction to what they need'ed,and didn't try to take them on the relocation harness or that module that can go for $100-160.

These haven't been young kids either some have been older folks that can't see spending that sort of money to listen to Vince gill.

I would never remove the air bag so why go on about seat belts,to me a air bag is more a safety device they a little light

If im breaking the lay then put me in jail just like every other person,That decides to dump there garbage bags in the park put there lawn mower scraps in the ditch etc o can't forget about the punks that smoke up as they drive away town.

Forget locking you up; I'm buying you a spell check and a grammer course instead.

Exclamation

This topic has been discussed to death - do a search.

Ultimately, GM says it needs it so major retailers and many independents will do as recommended and use a module or relocation harness. Some shops and freelance installers don't and the liability is theirs.
