2010 toyota tacoma system thoughts and advice
Hi everyone,
First I'm new to the forums so I want to say hi.
I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma access.cab and the factory stereo has got.to go.
I have a leftover from last year pioneer dual din have head unit w/ blue tooth, iPod control sect. That's being installed soon.
What I'm having a hard time deciding on is for the front doors. I am going.with components for probably 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 in size. I have had infinity in my previous.jeep and really.likes the sound but looking for a little.better sound quality for the truck.
I'm looking.at the infinity kappa series, the focal access line hertz and Jl audio.
I perfer.sound quality over spl. I will b running them off an amp and will be doing a 10" sub in a custom sealed box. I need to keep the jumper.seats usable.
I am considering the infinity kappa.components with the infinity I believe its.the 10 glass.fiber cone with 2 or 4 ohm impedance switch and running them off a Jl xd500/3 amp.
I listen to anything from oldies.and classic.rock to country top 40 some r&b and artists like don Omar.
I don't like.piercing highs but.do like the crack of.a.snare.and.the crisp sounds.of.high hats and such. I also Listen to soundtracks like the phantom of the.opera and know that the pipe organ can hit.some rather low.notes so also hopeing the system can keep up with that.
Any advice.or input.would be great. Also plan on sound deadning the doors.
I can't stand going.down the highway with the windows open and with the factory stereo at Max not being able to hear anything. Let alone run my iPod.or.phone through the aux jack and having to just about Max out the volume to hear anything.
Thank you,
Joe

if you dont like piercing highs then I would avoid metal cone tweeters. I would stick with silk done.
your choices for speakers seem decent enough. I always say to get the best stuff that fits into your budget because in a few years you dont want to regret your purchases and decide to upgrade, spending more money.
JL audio has good stuff, but i think they use metal dome tweeters. Consider CDT components. they have lots of combos so that you can find exactly what you want in your price range. their mids seem kind of large so you want to verify that your doors have the depth available.
do you have already have a sub in mind? are you doing a 4 channel amp, bridging the rears for the sub? I wouldnt do multiple amps as it seems that space is at a premium in your truck. will you have rear speakers? if so, you probably could/should run them off your deck.

Thanks vwdude for the reply.
Since the rear speakers in my truck are up in the actual headliner near all the airbag and srs equipment
I'm just going to power the rears off the deck itself.
I am debating between using a 3 channel amp or using g a 4 channel and bridge 2 of
Them for a sub.
I'm considering the infinity 100.9 10" sub in a custom box,
But also just recently was even considering if since I have the access cab seeing about sticking g a 6.5" sub in each of the back doors but not sure if it would work or how it would sound.
I'm willing.to spend.upto 350.00 for the front components to be able to fit in my budget
I'm trying to keep the components, amp, sub, box and wireing to 1200 Max.
I have also heard a lot of good things about Hertz but am concerned as that are paper cones about their long term life. I'm keeping the truck till its run into the ground years from now and want to do the system right.
Thank you for the information and advice. I still have alot to learn so anything one can share I'm always greatful for.
Thanks again, Joe
