6x9's in box with my sub?
Hey! I have a quick question concerning the installation of my speakers. I don't have room in the rear section of my car to install the 6x9's I have, but i have a truck box for my 10 inch sub. I was wondering if installing my speakers on either side of my sub would work. I'm not putting that much power through my sub, only 180 watts or so, but I'm worried about distortion, and wonder if porting would be necessary with the added speakers. Thanks! =]

The 6x9's need to be in a separate isolated enclosure from the sub. If not, then the sub will force the cones of the 6x9's to move producing unwanted noise/sound. There is nothing wrong with wanting to use them in the back of your car, just find the proper set of boxes to mount them in.
What they ^^ said. Really bad idea, you'll not only screw up your 6x9's and possibly damage them (over excursion from the air displacement of the subs), but you'll also screw up your sub's sound quality in the process. If you want sound in the back...which i like as well...get separate boxes for them.

A pre-fab box is not meant to be ported. Porting is a very scientific proposal. You'll need to do lots of research prior to just cutting a hole and sticking a tube into it.
Thank you for asking the questions before just doing it, like some others that have come before you.
