Have you looked at the high end Blaupunkt model yet? The winter CES is in January and Alpine will definitely be showing new items at that time.

I have thought about Blaupunkt since they build most of BMW's audio systems, but I don't see many dealers carrying them here. The entire audio system in that model BMW I posted had all Blaupunkt stuff.

It's too bad as they make a great product but not carried in main stream stores like Future Shop etc, same goes for Nakamichi

This is great for dealers though, after all they are high end and you don't want to ruin a name by mass producing. I remembered Blaupunkt since the tube days, learn electronics on that as part of our training programme. Damn, people used to be excited in 8 track cassettes players as a huge upgrade LOL

I will look up Blaupunkt to see what they have. Thanks for all your help BTW.

This one does not look bad at all, I like the "Volume increases with speed of car feature"

Blaupunkt Queens MP56

Not too expensive too doing the pound to CDN rate exchange.

A bite late here now, after 2:10 am will look at them a bit better tomorrow.

Yuli, in the days when Sony made their head units and 60% of them were coming back, I would agree. To date though, their failure rate is the least of any line that I carry or have ever carried.

I remember my first blaupunkt in my 1990 optima GSI. It was the bomb back then, had blaupunkt speakers too! Bad thing is I haven't seen one since then. They don't get returned cause nobody buy's them any more. Stick with the alpine you'll be happy.

I know man, thanks for the props. I love the old school civic you have. There was a driving instructor for a race track up here with one, damn that thing was fast and handled like it was on rails.

Looked up the sites in your sig Congrats on your win Bro, impressive

I always used Alpine and it's hard breaking away from it. Because you use and see it whenever driving it's important that you like what you install. If it was a part on the outside of the car or not seen too often, it's ok.

Sound is one thing but looks are important too, it's like having a girl with a sexy voice who looks like crap, convincing your friends that at least she sounds good

I will call Alpine USA looking into the possibility to get the 9886R with the red illumination. If I cant, I might just get the 9887 and shop around later for the USB KCA-620M later.

Thanks Guys.

hey guys, just a quick question with the 9886.. does any one know if the buttons/interface changes colours from blue to red like the other models. as the dash in my audi is red so i'd like to maintain the colour through out the car...

thanks in advance

Me and my luck, went to purchase the damn thing, playing with the controls on the demo unit while the guy went to get me one and discovered that. My BMW cluster and control lights are red/amber this HU has only blue, I was shocked.

The CDA-9886R which is only sold in Europe has the blue or red switchable option, I am very disappointed, why would they do this?
If you purchase the CDA-9886R in Europe it does have the blue/red option.
