Are all interconnects created equal?
You guys can't be serious... and ABX test is flawed ??? such a test is scientific, and I think that is the problem...
Eli, a better anology is two kia's... one has aftermarket paint, rims, leater interior.... does that mean it preforms better ?

Haunz: yes it does
as for the cable comparisons, I wish I could do the ABX test. I'm on the fence right now on this subject. The home audio boards I frequent, theres always the crowd that says high end cables are the way to go, and think people running generic rca and zip cord are crazy. Then at the other end the complete opposite, its always like this. Since there no way to finally put a rest to it with scientific data, or with test equptment that can't lie or is subjective, its hard to say your wrong, or your wrong (point either way).
I think people want to believe there is a difference, but I can't say that for everyone, since some really do hear a diff (or so they say).
Its a toughy I know, and it sucks that people who build these cables and charge for fortune for them won't even take a test o stand behind their cables. It seems like a good business to go into, could make alot of money potentially.

huanz, of course the test is flawed, it relies on the audible iterptretaions of a comparison between the exact same thing from 2 different people with different hearing. the constant is the cable and music but the thing determining differences arent identical, wouldnt they have to be the same for the test to be legit. my point is this. is there a difference, yes, will 2 people hear the differences in the exact same way, no, one may hear a differences and one might not. the test isnt at all scientific, we know that 1+1 equals 2 right, beacuse we can see it and prove it, but we cant prove and see the diference in the way 2, 3 or 1000 people hear the exact same thing

I deduce that you mean the test is flawed because it asks for a person to determine if there is a difference?
How is that flawed?
Isn't that the whole point - Do YOU hear a difference?
???
Dude, in an ABX test the interconnects would be switched back and forth at random from a switch box... ONE person tries to tell which cables is which based on the sound produced by the system....
Time and time again it has been demonstrated that human beings are unable to differentiate between two cables based on the sound produced by the system they are used in.....

i guess i wasnt erally clear, im talking about 2 people listening to the abx test and comparing what the 2 people hear, and if 1 hears what the other person hears, this discussion comes down to what one person can hear to the next and if they both hear a difference. i agree that its wheather and individual hears a difference but without another analysis to capare it to, the comparison seems useless
Everyone go home tonight and pull out your test cd and get those dollar store rca cables and the one pair of monster cable you bought at some time in the past and do your own test. I have done it with everything from 1.99 cables to 200.00 monsters and I am not sure if i heard a difference. That was enough to tell me that the recoton stuff is more than good enough for my home duties, and the 20.00 stuff with the tough jacket and tight connectors are perfect for car audio. Anyway, buy what you want, I won't lose any sleep over it, but try the test. You may be surprised!

As I rarely like to take an ABSOLUTE postition on anything I would have to say that I line up with:
I make my own cabling anyway so obviously is is far superior to anything 'mass produced' :snob:
2.) In my experience, I haven't experienced a difference.

After a really good conversation I had with someone on MSN, I've decided I'm done with this topic.
I'm getting tired of it, and I think it's counter-productive to the hobby to confuse people like this.
Since this hobby is about ego most of the time, I'll let the marketing hype do it's thing. After all, at the end of the day, if you are happy you've got the best, your ego should be fine.
I think so much of this topic is BS, both the people that think they can hear something, and those that can't, are making this into something bigger than it really is. It's just wire, I don't see it making a cataclysmic difference in the way we live our lives.
Buy what makes you happy. Yes I bought into some of the voodoo, and it makes me happy. Doesn't mean I'm right though...
So without further adu,
Adios
