Hi, I'm new to this forum and have been trying to do some research on what deck to get for my car.

I'm very interested in the Alpine 9815 and 9833 (don't see many differences between the two)

Some people have posted that these decks can be bought for under $400CDN locally (Toronto)...so if anyone could direct me to the place/store to get it for that price, please help me out.

On ebay the 9833 is going for $420CDN shipped but there will be warranty issues so I'd prefer something local.

the 9815 is last years model and 9833 is this years.

I am biased get the 9815 if you can find one I love it

Yeah, honestly I'm probably going to get which ever one is cheaper, because I don't see many differences functionally. I've heard really good things about the 9815 so if I can get a good deal, I'll definitely be grabbing one.

Do you know of any places offering good prices?

I would personally get the 9833.
It's a newer model, the features are similar, and you haev the option of changing the colour of the buttons, which does a alot in customizing the look of your car.

a friend of mine, who's opinion i trust, took out a 9815 and replaced it with a 9835, and was VERY disappointed in the sound charateritics of the 9835, ive never been one to say that one good cd player sounds better than the other, but, this guy has great ears and i trust him, ive yet to hear his stereo with the new 9835, but when i do, i'll let you know. given his evaluation, i would try to find a 9815, or even better a 7998, there are plenty out there that you can buy for less than 700$, and thats a deck thats worth it, pm me if your interested

er.. a friend of mine has the phantomface, not sure if its the 7998, and i have the 9815, i hate his button setup. its the biggest pain in the ***... but the 9815 is RAD, i love that deck.

i'm not gonna be getting a seperate amp for my interior speakers for awhile, so i'd like to get a deck with an internal amp, so i don't think the 7998 would be good for me.

johnny gave me a contact for the deck whom i'll be calling after work. does anyone know any places that have either the 9815 or 9833 on sale?
i'd like to shop around for the best price before making a purchase
