i owned the 9815 last year best deck ive ever owned
sold the 9833 to a freind of mine installed it and was extremly disapointed in the performance.
it was harder to set up and the preset's would not stay set.
the 9815 was more user freindly and had better sound quality.

Perhaps the presets didn't stay put, because after you make eqing changes, you gotta save them to one of the presets, kind of like saving a profile. If you don't save them after you change them, then poof, they're gone.
I had a 9831, and after getting used to the different fuctions, it was very easy to use.

i suppose you have a valid point it was kinda like learning to ride a bike when i purchased the 9815, however car audio i believe is more of a preference thing.
i did not find the 9833 as appealing in a lot of ways i found that alpine had added a lot of extra gimmicks such as the multi color display that made the setup process alot more aggrevating.
i do however know of another person who had last years 9813 broke it and purchsed a 9833
is extremely disapointed with it.
my suggestion is find a disco'd deck from last
year play with it in the demo board
and then compare it to this year's product
buy the one you like the most.

i just had a couple questions.
when maknig an MP3 cd to play, from what i understand you can burn a "data" cd and sort the songs by putting them into folders. is this right?
also, is it possible to burn MP3's on a CDRW and be able to play that in the alpine deck?
or is it just one or the other?

there are a handfull of things both deck's are capable of.
mp3/wma (window's media)
this is a cd you would burn in data format
cd/cdr/cdrw which would be a music cd in wav format much larger file not as compressed
the nice thing about alpine deck's is that they have what is called file search it allows you to scan folders/files and search for your music before you play the track.
this is nice because you dont have to search though your music 1 song at a time.
