I was checking out the Alpine 9833 deck, does anyone know the range of low pass frequencies you can control from the deck, is it 20-200hz? I was looking at the manual online, but found it to be fairly confusing.

I am trying to decied on a deck, also. I don't really care about MP3 capability, mainly just HPF and LPF built in, sub level control, and decent preout section. I am going to look at some of the Eclipse lineup soon, I don't want to get burnt by Alpine again with weak preouts. Are most Pioneers decent for preout strength? Any info is appreciated.....

generaly the alpine head units go in steps like 20hz 40hz ect.... that is what that deck probably does as well. its not like u can pic out every frequency between 20-200hz but that i haven't been installing alpine for about a year now so that is my two bits. however the control and fetures u get with those decks are quite impresive.

like i said above i don't install alpine any more but u said that your old alpine had week preouts????? please send me more info on that because that is the first i have herd of that. as for the eclips deck, go for it they have tones of preout power in the higher end decks. heck they make an 8volt preout unit. however there are not a lot of features on them so if u like gadjets then the deck for u will be the pioner. it's preouts pail in comparison but they look cool. lol. and the preout power is decent as well in the higher end units. i would go with the eclips if u are an sq guy 24bit dack and good preouts. but if u are an spl'er u need something with a pause function and that is not on the eclips line up. sooooo... take er from there!

pause is on the eclipse its the #3 button when the cd is being played. There are tonnes of features on the eclipse decks. Especially the 8XXX models. You have full pro mode with TA, PEQ, 4way xover, sub phase and more. Alpine are really nice units but it just depends on what you look for in a deck. Eclipse just arent flashy but thats what I like about them

dude!! avoid pioneer. no offence if anyone here is a rep for them or anything, but my new sales guy just went from a premier pioneer to an alpine unit, and running DECK power to stock speakers, the difference in clarity was un freaking believeable!! The Eclipse sounds awesome to, but once you use and alpine with the digital time correction, you'll never use another deck again!!!

Rockford Decks kick *** -- Show me a deck that sounds better than an RFX9420 and I will give you $50 cash -- test is play the Alpine or anything -- take it out and put the RFX9420 in. I used to do this in my shop back in the day... won tons of Guiness with the money I made.

Do you think the difference was just the amp in the Alpine was stronger and had cleaner output, or was it the crossover/eq/time-alignment features that made the most difference. Did he find the sub preout strong enough compared to the Pioneer?
