I was running the MB Quart NRA-450 up until a few weeks ago,

looks quite similiar, had 5 volt/100 ohm preouts, was a very nice deck, for sure. I had an RF deck a few years back, 8320 I think, it was a nice deck. I want to do a simple system, get a deck that does all of my crossover functions, run my 400x4 amp, a couple of subs and some componenents up front. Most of the RF decks mainly have an 80hz LPF, so I am looking for something with HP and LP filters.....
The MB quart decks are nice (they are the Rockford Marine Decks); however, the RFX8420 was designed to compete with Decks costing 3 times as much. I was lucky enough to speak with the man who designed the RFX9420 and he told me the goal he had was to make the best sounding cd player/preamp possible and to save cost by taking all the band-aids and BS out.

pause is on the eclipse its the #3 button when the cd is being played. There are tonnes of features on the eclipse decks. Especially the 8XXX models. You have full pro mode with TA, PEQ, 4way xover, sub phase and more. Alpine are really nice units but it just depends on what you look for in a deck. Eclipse just arent flashy but thats what I like about them

I cant say much about the 5444 ask either Westec or MR2NR. I dont think it has the Pro mode like the 8454 does but I may be mistaken. The 8053/8444/8454 all have the pro mode with the xover points that are fully adjustable in steps and slopes.
for what you say you need a deck for the alpine 9833 would be a perfect choice. it is basically the same as my alpine but without mp3. It has great crossovers. and 5-band eq. works like a charm if your not tryin to get too crazy. It has 3sets of 4 volt preout. i have not had any trouble with noise or blown outputs. This is the 5th alpine i have owned and i will probly never go with anything else. and the mx feature is just bada$$. the difference in sound from when it is off to when mx is on is just crazy. I jump 13 db at level 25(volume) and sub level 0.

Also, anyone know a ballpark price on the CD-5444? Thanks! A&B are the only Eclipse dealers in Vancouver that I know of, anyone else know of some other dealers around here?
