And I guess that is why Alpine has a 1 year warranty, better for sales...... sorry Mr. Customer it is out of warranty, better buy another one...... or are we to beleive that Alpine never breaks at all ever and that there are never ever any warranty issues at all.....

 

Nothing right now is what used to be. Eclipse makes some fantastic sounding head units but the faceplates are cheap looking and feeling. Alpine this year took a dump on quality to try stay out of bankruptchy wince their OEM manufacturing side is getting hammered with less car sales. Kenwood 5 years ago was pretty unreliable stuff..now I think they are the top brand for head unit reliability. I remember a time when Sony and Blauppunkt made top knotch gear.

As og this moment this years product lines. for head units..My personal experience and what I've seen I'd rate the top overall build quality to Kenwood(excellon) , Eclipse, Pioneer, JVC, Nextar, Then alpine.

 

9887 is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!! And quality is top notch all around, and the price is even better.

Yeah, but it seems to still be the top of the line model for 2009, as there was no new model to replace it yet, AFAIK. And the crap you mention seem to be the new bottomfeeders :P
