I have no first hand experience with that deck, but from what I can see in the manual...that model says nothing about a blackout feature... it has 3 dimmer modes and you can turn off the animation, but no blackout.

Your thinking of the CDA 9853 and 55 jonesy.

I played with it today. There is no blackout on the CDA117.

They've got it stuffed in with the Audio settings menu.
