Alpine MRV-F357 5 channel amp....
#1
Anyone have any first-hand experience, or knowledge of the Alpine MRV-F357 5 channel amp from a few years back? It looks like a decent amp, I am wondering if the 5th channel will handle a 2 ohm load though......I have heard that Alpines are not too great at 2 ohm mono loads.....

I just did a google search on the amp and EVERYTHING i read about it was positive, people were even calling it one of the best 5 channel amps ever made. Evryone ran it at 4ohms but a few of the reviews said it will handle 2ohms as well. I myself think it would be able to take 2ohms on the sub channel.

if your only gonna run an 8" then 4ohms should work just peachy, unless its a 4ohm dvc or 2ohm svc sub.

I have the MRV-1507
I bought it new about 1.5 years ago. I have 1, single 4 ohm voice coil 15" Alpine R-Type sub hooked up to it.
Is it a good amp?
Yes, when its working
I have fried it twice. Once when I had it hooked up to the Alpine sub, and once when I had it hooked up to a 15" Beyond Audio Sub.
Luckily it has been fixed under warrenty each time.
That amp likes to put on a fireworks show for me when I run a 40-60Hz test tone at 3/4 volume.
I still have 1.5 years more of warrenty. Hopefully I blow it for a 3rd time, and Alpine replaces it with their new digital amp, instead of fixing it each time.
Maybe I just got a bad amp. Who knows. Ive heard of others having that V12 series amps with no problems at all.
Heres a few pictures of it:

That 1507 is a tank, for sure. Yeah I am not going to pick up the amp, my cheapie litle US Acoustics amp sounds surprisingly good, and it is one less thing I have to worry about losing if my ride gets broken into.
