Thank you all for the input.
I think i was listening to focal 136k's with tn45's. The type x's I were listening to were like the 2004 model. Not sure if they've gotten worse over the years or not.
What do you all think about boston acoustic components?

Type X is Alpines top line, im almost sure you did not compair Focals top line to them. Which Focal componants were you compairing them to?

the type x midranges/midbass are each hand built by scanspeake and share alot of the same charateristics as the revelator mids which are very highly regarded, the tweeter has alot of the same technology in it as the 7000 sereies rev elator tweeter as well on a smaller less exspensive sacle. the type x speakers arent goinf to get really loud and that wasnt really the plan with them, they were designed to be speakers that have great tonaility and sound good, anyone who says the type x 5.25" isnt a very good sounding speaker had best get their ears examined
