If you want to stop your lights from flickering, then put the bandaid on the lights. A cap hooked to the light circuit will keep them from flickering quickly....they'll still dim when the current draw exceeds the alternator for more than some mS's, and will also increase the peak power available for transients.
It would be ideal to have 10 times the current available as the avereage musical draw, but when you crank it, a cap can "fake it" to a degree.
Once you pass the threshold of peak vs RMS power, then a cap becomes a detriment, as another load, rather than a benefit of reserve peak power, or stored energy.
