Alternator Question

Alternator Question

Hey guys just have a quick question i am running a fi btl 15" fully loaded with 2 nsb 90 batteries running 1 zx 2500.1 and 1 zx 850.4 now will this affect my alternator it is stock but pushes 140amp so please let me know

It's too much. Your alternator also will only push 140A @ peak (probably 3k RPM) and it most likely only does 80-90A @ idle, if that.

Subtract about 40A for keeping the car running, more than that if you have A/C or fans on and you're left with 50A at idle.

Even at an impossible 100% efficiency the zx2500.1 will draw 175A at full power and 60A for your zx850.1

At full tilt you will be able to pull far more power than your alt can put out. you will run into issues w/ voltage drop causing your amps to pull more and put out less power.

You need a HO Alternator if you're gonna drive around with your system seriously bumpin.

Thats why god created batts with a larger reserve rate

Yeah, but my argument is he'll be running a perpetual deficit possibly even with the system set to 50% volume.

More batteries are great, but if you can't put as much into them as you're pulling, then they don't serve much purpose imo.
