There are lots of single channel class A/B amps.

i think its an a/b amp, some would think its a d because its single channel and 2ohm stable but look at the fusing required to make 300watts......d class is more efficient

but look at the THD. very high for a AB amp.

the amp has CEA rating of 150x1 at 4 ohm with 1% THD.

That's why the efficiency rating would tell us for sure. I agree 1% is pretty high but maybe cause it's mono they don't care.

Amps advertised as CEA06 certified have to publish (or usually are) their specs at 1% distortion.

The frequency response is toped at 80hz, thats low for AB but I am sure that it is AB anyway.

I agree that it's an AB amp but I ponder why in the world Kicker would cap it at 80hz.. At least Rockford's 300w mono AB amp is allowed to play full range: Rockford Fosgate® - P300-1

A class D and a class A/B amp can have the same number of output or power supply devices. The only thing that differentiates them is switching frequency. Class D is into the high kHz to MHz range, where class A/B is not.

At lower power levels, class D has no real benefits over class A/B, so no need to use those expensive FETs for class D.

You can't tell by the specs, but like said above, the effeciency would give it away. You have to go by the manufacturer on this one.
