Can someone explain amp clipping, or better yet how to avoid it?

Many thanks.

There are two ways to clip an amp.... Ask for more voltage or current then the amp can provide and it will clip...

One of the easy way to set gains is to drive your speakers/subs with a lowpass active filter limiting bandwidth under 1khz....

Hook a piezo tweeter up in parrallel with the speaker and play some music... adjust deck volume then gain untill the piezo starts buzzing then turn it down just a little....

At this level the amp shouldnt clip while playing music providing your test disk was fairly dynamic....

This method works well with full range amps...

And another way is to send a clipped signal into the amp in the first place.
