I love RF, so I recommend them, but any of the lines mentioned will easily do what you need. Amps are probably the last components in the chain that affect SQ...if at all. The most important features of amps in my opinion is realiability, power output(rms), and appearance...in that order. Personally, I think the biggest difference in sound comes from a combination of speakers and install(locations, tuning). Just my .0001 cents!

From my daily pounder perspective, I would definitely agree with this.

If your budget is limited check for the edesign 9.1 and 9.2x, or you can also check for the avionixx amps... good bang for the bucks...

Are they just more under-rated... or is there some intangibles (or in this case, audibles...) where you just can't judge alone on the rated specs?
Not really knowing the product, typically, and this is true of most compagnies, the power line will have a better xover. And by better I mean a steaper or perhaps selectable slope. From my experience with rockford, the power line is also underated as oposed to the punch line.

Not necessarely true of RF but a lot of Other brands higher end lines will offer options such as selectable subsonic filters, digital displays, special connections or connectors, fancy bass remotes.

To further justify the price increase, they use better beefier or "matched" components inside. How does that translate in actual sonic differences that you can actually notice with your hearing.... I cant say.

Something you can notice is a power line is usually more dependable, can take lower loads for longer period of time and can run in hotter temperatures, basically it can take a better beating. But this is a non factor if you install and run your equipment properly.
