amp going into protection, immediately

ok, just got a new amp, old amp, Kicker DX700 to push a 12" Kicker L7 dvc 4ohm....and it goes into protect pretty much as soon as u turn it on.................gain is turned all the way down, subsonic filter turned off, and if i put the volume on teh deck above 40, turns off in a second...max volume on teh deck is 80, so 40 is not loud at all. i have it all wired up right, i beleive, followed diagram on kicker just to be sure....each coil is wired to a speaker post on amp, aka, neg to neg, neg to neg, pos to pos, pos to pos.

double checked all wiring, all is good

could it be the sub sending it into protect, i recently blew a rockford fosgate T3002 amp, and never brought the sub anywhere to get it check out after i blew the amp...like could of teh voice coils got messed somehow and now send an amp into protect?

also, with a multimeter, dont realy know how to measure ohms, i have a digital one, and on all of the ohm setting on its it measure 1.89ohm's across each of teh terminals, don't know if this is the reason its sending it into protect. also the ohm reading bounces all over the map, 1.89 to 5.xx, saw it jump that high, again don't know much about the ohm load, either than how to wire for 1, 2, 4 ohms to the amp

any info would be greatly appreciated, as i don't think the amp is bad from the seller, seemed lik a good guy

Disconnect the sub from the amp and see if the amp is still going into protection or not.
