Question

I have a Kicker DX700 and for some reason, as i was hooking it up after i disconected the amp to change the ground, it went into protection mode. There was a spark for some reason when I hooked up the power wire to the amp. At the time the power wire was disconnected from the battery and the amp was grounded. Now whenever I turn the music up the amp goes into protection mode. At very low volumes the cone jus vibrates a lil bit jus enuf for u to feel it with ur hand

How can I solve this problem?

Thanx,
Neil.

Got your email. Sounds sort of like a cold solder joint since tapping the amp changes the pitch or makes the issue go away. Since you are in the US I'd suggestr that you call Kicker direct. They canhandle warranty and repair claims. Makes sure the RCA cable you have hasnt shorted. I know you said you looked at it but use a voltmeter and check the continuity. If the cable or radio are ok then send the amp in to Kicker.

^For some reason none of the bit in my ****ty lil tool box work.

well neways. I disconnected the sub from the amp and the the power light comes on but the protection light remains off and it "looks" as though everything is functionin fine. but as soon as i hook up the sub the and turn the volume up jus a tad bit the protection light comes on. n flickers a lil bit.i.e goes on when there is a bass hit on lower volumes n stays on at higher volumes.

seein as how i jus moved down here i dont know any shops where i can not be suckered and seein as how i m payin international fees i do not have ne xtra $. well neways i will try n pry the sucker open to get more info.

thanx

Try hooking up a different speaker to it. It could be your sub.
