Question

Hey guys I need your help, I am trying to make my plan definite for getting the amps for my components and sub. I am pretty set on getting an autotek MX-5000 and MX-4500 but im not sure if the 4500 will work with my componet set. I have the CDT HD-642 3-way set which consists of 2 6.5's, 2 4', 2 tweets and 4 crossovers. Now the 4500 is a 4 channel amp that puts out 75 x 4 @ 4ohms so I am wondering if I can run 1 channel to each crossover? Will that work or no?

Wouldn't that just defeat the whole purpose of the CDT designed x-over network?

Shouldn't the input go to the first x-over, being split into one signal for the mid and one signal sent to the next x-over. Then the signal gets split up again for the mid and tweeter from there?

If you bypass that then you loose the 60db slope that is built into the x-overs, in exchange for a 6 or 12 db slope off the amp?

Doesn't make sense to add complexity to the system if you aren't getting anything back for it? What would you hope to gain by doing that?

CDT has done all the design work on the x-overs to match them to those drivers. I doubt that you're going to improve the sound any by removing that from your system.

Well now I think I am going to bridge the amp and run it how it was meant to run. I am just worried that bridging the amp will ruin the sound quality. I have been told it wont but im still kidna worried.

On paper the THD is doubled by bridging the channels. In the real world you probably won't hear a difference. I'd suggest trying it bridged and if you're happy with the SQ, its all good.

Of course buying my JL 500/5 would be the best solution for me.
