anyone know what kind of D/A converter in Alpine CDA-9835?

This place has the complete specs, if you click on technical specs and scroll down just past half way, you'll see "DAC Type / Number of DACs : Regulated 1-Bit / 6. I'm guessing it wasn't a big deal since it was not a well advertised feature. I know when I compared the sound to my other deck, a cda-9827 of the same year, I could not hear a difference.

For 2k deck, the return vs the price might not be as good versus the deck for 400, but for those who want it, sure, the price will determine how good the thing is to them.
Coming back to my above post, when I said look at sometihng else rather than alpine. What I mean to say is something else rather than all-in-one piece that 9835 is, with 3way x-over. After having one for slightly less than a year, I realize I need more processing power.
H701 might be a good combo, depending on the money someone has and willingness to get the required gear.
But for the same amount of money one might get something different. Say a Clarion drz9255. Or something like a Denon deck with external processor.

For most people the difference was immediate, they heard things in the music that the single bit just could not offer
I don't think Ive ever heard of an abx style test where someone was able to differentiate between DACs... (that would be unless clock jitter was an major issue.... in which case the 1bit would be superior )
