go phoniex gold nice amp well built no junk inside, you tell me the difference!! what there power supply makes it sound better than pheonix golds. come on lies lies lies, when you are talking great amps (not junk) you will be very very very hard pressed to hear any differences. now i do believe that every amp has a signiture sound at clipping and i think this is what people mean by amps sounding different but chances are the "sound" differece will be to negligable to hear by anyone other than a dog.

Karz back up their product....some of the nicest/knowledgable people to deal with I've ever met.

What you gotta look at when buying an amp is if it suits YOUR needs...who gives a **** what name is on it. If the PG meets your standards for power,x-over etc then buy it....I've heard PG a few times...My take on them is, there just another amp. There not Zapco,Audison, Brax etc, but there not bad amps. I find the SRx to be QUITE a little amp...it puts out much more than specs say and they do it effeciently.

Ultimately YOU have to decide what's best for you.

My main question is:
The SRX2 is rated at 65X2 (granted this might be low).

Will this be enough for the Focals??? (again I have a S-10 extended cab truck)

The PG Xenon line is 100 X 2. (again, that's what they say)

I think I might go for Focals since
a) they generally get good reviews
b) The nice little amp will fit better in the truck than the huge honkin' PG amp.
c) Unless I get a wicked deal, right now at list price, the Xenon line is waaaaay more than the SRX2.

By the way, thanks all for the input.
Good, bad, or indifferent, I love all your opinions.

At anything below deafening levels that kind of power will be fine...remember the install is just as important in getting the most out of any set of speaks. If you want the amp to play "louder" compared to your current noise floor in the vehicle you might want to lower the noise floor by installing some noise dampening throughout the doors, floors and headliner. Then you won't have to turn it up as loud to overcome the roadnoise.

Again, I haven't heard but a few PG amps.

I do know for a fact that the audison is not putting out 65WRMS it's likely more around 80 or so with a proper wiring/charging system(13.5v).

And that's clean untainted power. I'm not familiar otherr than pictures, with the Xenon line of PG amps so I can't coment...I think you'll be more than happy with the Audison.

I agree.

An amp, amplifies signal...PG is a good reputable company as is Audison, therefor other than the power difference there really won't be a difference between the 2, maybe x-overs or something like that....nothing major.

As for pricing...an SRX 2 channel can be had for 500 bucks roughly. Relatively cheap for a GREAT amp. Although...I'm not too happy with the looks of them regarding all the x-over markings on the heatsink where they can be seen.....other than that I like the looks.

increasing power has always had an effect on SQ in my experience. Although I never AB'ed it..so it could all be in my head.

Always wondered..sure you may not notice it to be louder, but wouldnt getting even 50% more power to the speaker make it possible for it to work better...be more precise?

I think...the rule is...you need to double your power for a 3-4 DB gain. But that could be wrong.

Putting more power to a speaker won't neccisarily make it work better. Usually if you run a speaker at it's RMS rating it should work as well as it's meant to.

Say you had a 6" speaker thats RMS rating(real world RMS) is 100WRMS....why would it work BETTER if you put 200WRMS to it? In my experince a good speaker being fed clean, undistorted power will take a ton more power than it's rated RMS anyway, but why put 300WRMS to a speaker rated at 100WRMS....that's just needlessly drawing power and putting strain on the speaker itself.
