I find that ported boxes lack transient response when loud (speed of changing notes), but sound better at lower levels, right where eldridge would be using them for sq. I wouldn't go so far as to blame your box, but it could be a combination of sub and box.

with you saying that "it likes deep bass" is a sign that the box could be to big, because the more air space in the box the response of the sub gets slower and slower...

because dance doesnt have as low bass as rap and reggae, so the lower the bass the slower the sub needs to move but with the higher bass lines it needs to respond quicker, I would say that if reversing the polarity doesnt fix the problem that your box is to big for your application...

Well I tried using the the reverse setting on my deck and it seemed to help. I'll just keep fiddling with my settings. My Xtant also has the bass boost module and that's set to +6 db so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it too.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I don't mean to bash kicker's product, it's a great one, just not really meant for anything else than reggae and hip hop. I got 2 of those (black cones) in about 1 cu. ft. sealed each and IMHO it just doesn't sound good with anything else than rap-style music. These subs are meant to get loud, but you need some good dedicated midbass drivers to back 'em up, which most people aren't willing to do.

My .02

EDIT: And YES, I DID try them vented; 3.2 @ 32
How does the sub know what kind of music is being played? Do reggae and hip hop guys use different instruments than other bands? </font>[/QUOTE]I think I know what he's saying. It's like my old Punch HX2s; I tried them in 3 different boxes, and while they always sounded good with bass-heavy electronic music they could never quite cut it for heavy metal and other fast-bass music.

New update on my situation.

In all of my Daftness I have discovered that there is no bass lag when I have the windows CLOSED. When the windows are OPEN the bass gets mega boomy and really lags.

Does anyone know why this is???
