battery question

Red top under the hood is only better at extreme cold, and I just dont see any other pros worth mentioning. Yellow Top is still good enough for any cold you are willing to come outside for.
For extreme car audio duty, Red is horrible and will die really soon as you'll be discharging it often, and non-deepcycle nature of it will fall to it's demises. If you want reliability under the hood, Red will fail under harsh conditions, Yellow will laugh at you. It is a starter battery too, so double duty. No comparison. I still dont know why people dont see that. The info is googleble.

Depends how much power you're running. Your alt won't keep up with current demands, cause at idle it puts out nothing but crap, so the battery will almost always come to the rescue, and will be discharged slowly. The longer you play your system, the more the battery will discharge. A lot of companies give specs like, if you discharge your battery on a regular basis 30%, you'll get around 3-4 years out of it, if you discharge it 50%, you'll get around 2 years. If you keep killing it, you will destroy it soon. Yellow Top will give you around 8-10 years, and by design does not care if you discharge it completely a million times. You gotta pay extra for reliability. I would not be saving a couple of bucks, and would get the Yellow Top for sure even if it cost double, cause I do not a price on my welfare. We are not talking $1000's. Do it right once and for all. There are cheaper deep cycles out there. They may not have cleaner power like the Optima among other things, but the reliability will be there. It is not always about paying more for the brand, cheaper brands may be using inferior internals, that do the job, just not as well, and I like to have a piece of mind.
