Not to burst your bubble but I think your 1000 watt sub is about on par with your 900 watt amp.....

IIRC those subs are more like 300 or 400 RMS...

ding ding. The exaggeration works for both amps and subs..

To the OP - what'd you pay for that amp? $249? $199? No way you're going to get 900watts, especially name brand, for that cabbage..

300 watts is decent power and for the price one of the best deals your gonna find you may feel duped but at max load and max voltage and at 10% plus distortion that amp very well might put out 900 watts for the label to be on the box there must be a circumstance that it will produce that amount of power. Just not a very good sounding circumstance

Ah you fell into the max power rating trap. If it has 30 amps of fusing it cannot do 900 watts no matter what(maybe if the you get a good lightning strike.)

usually the amp's rms is half of the max rating...is it a two channel amp? if so perhaps it puts out 351 x 2 at 2ohms that would seem more in line with the 900watt max rating

nevermind...i looked at the MTX site...its a 300wrms amp the model number even is 300xd indicating its only a 300 watter. Thats pretty funny but the moral of the story is never buy car audio at future shop you will get ripped off for crappy gear from sales people who don't know anything whatsoever about car audio...my favourite is when you ask one of the drones there a question and they try to find the answer on the box lol...like if it said it on the box I would ask.
