Now that I've got all my gear and it installed, I need to start buildin a box the fun part!

So is there any programs, or any specs someone can specify to me to make this a good sounding loud system? I do not think I'm going to compete but I'd still like it to be as loud as I can get it.

Subs - Alpine Type R 10" SVC 4 ohm, two of them.

I'd like to have a slot port rather than the circular tube.

Going in the trunk of a 2001 Z24, not sure if I should face the box into the seats or 'out of the trunk' or even the trunk lid.

Kenwood KAC 8101D (Believe thats the model #) is the amplifier powering these.

Is it better to make one big dual box but have the subs in their own chamber/box (Kinda like what Tyler/Chunk did I believe), or to keep it an open dual box.

Rather not make a box on an angle, just a good rectangle is what I'm lookin to do.

Also if possible guys, what exactly will I need to be for materials. Including how much MDF and what type of MDF.

thanks for the help guys

What do you think of this ...

Open to thoughts and suggestions

well i'm not going to be much help, but yes make each sub with its own chamber, incase one sub cuts out the other one will still go heavy. have the subs facing towards the back of the trunk, this way they can breath.
i can't really help you with mdf, but get stuff that is 0.75 thickness or thicker.

for a good program (just to calculate tuning and watch the response curve and vent machs and whatnot) go to www.linearteam.dk
in all the installs i've done where a trunk was involved (non-hatch of course) i usually do near the rear deck firing up. just my own personal preference.
when doing a dual sub setup (particularly when ported), it is much better to chamber the subs. this way, if one sub were to go out for any reason, you would be able to play the other without worrying about any possible damage or terrible sounds. of course, if you're going to chamber the box, you'll need to do two ports rather than one (one for each chamber).
how much mdf do you need? well that depends on the dimensions of your box, heh. as to what type, pick up some 3/4" MDF from some place like a local home depot and you should be set. do not mistake particle board for MDF (i know it sounds silly but i've seen it done).

hope that helps you a bit...

Looks cool to me.

Grab yourself a sheet of 3/4" MDF. A hand held jig-saw. Table saws are great for after u get the rough cut out to make it nice and straight. Circular saws would be the next best bet.
I use Elmors PRO Bond wood glue.

Also what I would do. Top right corner of that pic. Make a 3" wide strip that has 45' angles on the one side like \__/ And put it in that corner so the air flows around the corner real nice. (3" x however high the inside of the box is)

Make sure to get some buds to help you out for when you glue the biatch together!

Oh ya... firing to the rear is usually louder.

keep the input comin guys thank you.

And based on all this so far I will go with a chamber for each sub and fire it out Bidnyk I'll be sure to add that as well very good idea

As for tools, dads got everything Table saw jigsaw etc. All I need is the actual materials and for his and my time to build her.

the question is, does he have a router? i find that much better than a jigsaw, particularly for circles like mdf rings and what not.

^ A router is only better for that purpose if you have the circle-cutting jig to go with it. For what she is doing, a steady hand on the jigsaw is all that is really needed.
