hey guys, i am just curious.. if I was to build a new box for my 1 12" Pioneer TS-W2000spl in my '94 Cavalier... what cubic footage would you all suggest (for a daily driver)? Currently i have a 1.6 cu/ft box ported to 30hz. may not sound possible but i did it.. i see alot of people with even only 1 sub build 3 cu/ft boxes and above... what does this do? my box is in the range Pioneer suggests.. they suggest 1.5 to 2 cu/ft i believe.. but i am wondering what a bigger box would do for me (without actually building one)

here is a link to my current box..

yeah it looks weird.. had mixed reviews, some like it some don't.. but anyways lol. let me know what you all think a bigger box would do for me

It would increase port velocity (port noise) and increase the peak near tuning ...

ok, so what would be best.. a small box tuned to 30hz compared to a larger box tuned to 30hz (for being able to achieve decent SPL as well as being able to sound decent)

Thanks

i really dont know what would be best, but if you have extra wood/time i would make it a bit bigger(2.5f3)

I would not put your port and sub on opposite faces. no more then 90 degrees away from each other.

hrm.. ic yeah originally i had it ported on the top (for another sub i had) but the box is so high, i wasnt able to achieve the tuning freq because the port would be way too long, unless i extended it up through the rear deck.. but would that be pointless with fold-down rear seats? what am i doing wrong with the port not 90 deg from the sub? gettin me thinking now.. what exactly happens when the port is positioned like this, or more importantly what would i notice if i figured out a way to make the port 90 deg from the sub?
Thanks!
