Hi:
I have my own company. It is my 3rd. This time I've gone it alone as it's very difficult being in business with people - over time everyone isn't where they were when you started so you end up with different visions/goals. I would recommend going it alone if you can. The best place to start is your local Chamber of Commerce - they usually have small business startup kits. Don't skimp on the essentials - a solid business plan based on some solid research of your marketplace. Do get a good accountant and do keep your books up to date so you always know where you stand financially. Definitely incorporate provincially or federally.
There are a lot of web resources out there including the federal government - try www.ic.gc.ca ( Industry Canada ). Post more info on what your plans are - we can probably help you out more if we have an inkling of your business.
email me privately if you want to also - I'm always willing to help out fellow entrepreneurs.

Hey man i am looking at veturing into the realm of car audio maybe. I want to but i gotta lot of research to do before i go ***** deep into a business endeavor. It's just ever since my buddy retired from car audio there is no kinda service in town. The shops here that are somewhat customer service carry garbage gear and the ones that carry good gear are ********. So if i can find out if the demand is there i wanna try to get something going but i like i said i gotta hit the books

good luck on the business, if you decide to go with it. The only thing i can tell you is that we had a family owned business for 4 years way back in the early 90's. fortunately it was me , my 2 brother and and my pops. Every penny went to us. and every struggle improved us. There is nothing better than owning and running your own shop. the satisfaction is awesome. I'd be careful about endevours with others. Keep it in the family so that you can save on the headaches. Unless your loaded with cash and want to hire someone to run it for you. But if your planing to run it your self, there are allot of time consuming tasks that you will need to do. and you will have all the control that you need if you do it yourself. The more research that you do the more that it will benefit you. once again good luck keep us posted on what you decide

**had to go**
but as for a business make sure you go into soemthing you "LOVE" if you don't then working 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week becomes mroe of hell then anything!!! also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do as much market research on the buisness place as possible before sinking a lot of time and money into anything. Make sure the demand is there and that their is a futrue need in the business as well. It's not fun to have a great business for 5 years then die out because of no more demand. Although this is very hard to predict oif course. But look at the market trends for the last 10,15,25 years and make assumptions on what you find out.
If your starting your own business, with a new idea that nobody has ever done before, it may be hard to do research etc... best advice is seek advice from people that have done it before, or people in other business institutions. I'm sure your city has a place to help you out! good luck! I wish anyoine the best ofluck when getting into business! it's a long hard journey, but it can really pay off!
