Buying them a beer when I see them out etc.

I can boil this whole thing down to 2 words.. "Instant Gratification" I want it now, so I don't want to save up until I can support someone legit, who can support me. I just want it now, and I don't want to pay what it's worth.
I could have bought all of my gear across the border if I wanted, but I'd rather support someone local. I'd rather put money in a local dealer's pocket, and patronize his store, build up a friendship, which leads to getting better prices, because the shop owner knows that when I have money to spend, I'll spend it there, so he can give me a better price today, because what he didn't make today, he'll make tomorrow. Add to that the fact that I throw as much business his way from friends, acquaintances, and people I meet at shows, and he's happy to give me a good deal.
Shortsightedness cause people to make decisions that seem great at the time, but in about a year, or probobly less, it all of a sudden becomes a bad idea because something better came along, that maybe yourn local dealer would have given you the heads up on, and saved you some money in the long run.
Have I ever bought from the US? yes, once, could I get the product locally? not at the time, but now I can, so I wouldn't buy from the US. Have I bought from wal-mart? occasionally, but I prefer to support local specialty shops.

I don't value customer service and I already pay too much tax to subsidize other Canadians for my liking. Stop putting people down for what they value more and realize that there isn't just one target market in the car audio world.

Ive never bought a thing from the states, never even went across for cheap smokes or booze.
I always go to the same shop and get treated well for doing so.
The thing is we are taxed to death,i realize it is to pay for stuff we have but jeez, they take like 200 bucks a week right off my check then every time i go buy something i get reamed again.
It cost a fortune to support the local shop, however thats what i do and i always will.

I guess taxes on big ticket items don't matter
MY point is this, if you don't want to pay for items in canada, and pay the taxes that our government takes when you purchase items, and you're doing it JUST because you don't want to pay the taxes, then don't use the things that MY taxes pay for. I hate freeloaders who think that because everyone else pays for the services that they enjoy, they are entitled to not pay for any of them.

I pay income tax just like anybody else and I really have no other choice. Furthermore, I pay tax on the items when they cross the border
, so your point is irrelevant.
