yes . teh peopel local shops despise are teh people how buy there stuff online then when they dont know how to install it expect to get teh same great prices they got onlin for the installation ofthe gear from a local shop. and if taht online product breaks they expect a local shop to help them fix it. those kind of people are who retailers hate. if you buy online yoru on yoru own . thats how i look at it and i like the challenge of learning myself. but not taht many people are ... inclined.. enough to do it all thm self.

myself i just go to ebay
Actually, most retailers that are on here don't hate people who shop online. They just try to point out the advantages that some might not be aware of with buying local. For example here's one that many don't think of. Say someone buys online because they can do their own research choose what's right for their application, and they don't need it professionally installed because they know how. How did they learn how to install it? Probably from reading the internet groups such as CCA, maybe they learned how to do some custom stuff from a site like Tim's where he posts step by step pictures. Do you think that without professional installers any of that info would be available to the common guy? If you don't support your local retailer will people stay in business and answer those questions? No they will move on to other fields and you will lose a valuable online resource. </font>
As much as I'd like to see your side of the argument, I just don't believe it.

There will always be shops to make show cars. The SEMA shows and things of that nature are WAY too big to go away. Those shows always have nice cars.

Aside from that there will always DIY'ers out there to show you how it's done.

If a fine art like building log homes can survive a drastic reduction in popularity/builders then so can car audio

Of course this is the wrong forum to ask that question. Who do you think provides some of the best knowledge here? People that either install for a shop, work at a shop, or own a shop. Therefore they are directly impacted by internet sales.

And they are right. Without support local shops with cease to operate.

But honestly do you think a deck with a MRSP of over 2 grand would break in 6 months?
Yes. There is always a chance a product will malfunction regardless of price.

it's great that some out there have found that specatular deal they were looking for. and that you got it done without buidling the relationship of support that most have here. but that is exactly it. i can come on here and get info, service, support and anything my pretty little head wishes only because the realtionships that are built, that are strong. same as everyone else on here. they can come to us for the same in return especially when we are at a critical event and help is needed. that is a service/support that is hard to buy online. but kudos to you. you beat us all i guess? or something like that.

Enjoy your products. we enjoy ours and that is what matters.

There isn't the enthusiast support that there is behind log homes. People have always have had love affairs with their cars though.

The point remains though. You said that there eventually won't be anyone to show DYI'ers how to do their own work, which just isn't true.
