Car has to much bass and not enough audio help plz!!

hey guys i just recently put a system into my car.
specs are the following:
car: 98 bmw 318 Ti hatchback
amp: JBL cs300.1
sub: 1 single 10" phoenix gold in a bassworx box

the two doors mids and tweeters are stock and in the rear the 2 mids and tweeters are also stock.
The sub is only producing 1/3 of what it can do because the speakers cant go any higher with out destorting the sound. My question is what shud i add or take out to give me loud audio so i can turn my sub up to whats it capable of doing. my audio guy said to ad 1 tweeter(fosgate or anyother top brand) to each door and change the rear mids. is this a good idea?

thanks guys

i would get a nice amp perfrably 60-100 watt to each channel you can do just the fronts or do them all , and you will have loud audio to blend back into your loud bass

.... the subs are only doing 1/3 of what it can do??? I dont know how you can measure that...

first if it is too loud turn it down, you have 2 electronic ways to do that 1) from the HU and 2) from the amp (turn the gain down). since I dont know what kind of HU you have and how you have hooked it up... there are mechanical ways to lower the bass (stuffing the port) but I think the issue is operational

anyway a single 10 should not be so dominant even over a stock system, but lets focus on doing free things for the moment.

OBTW your 'audio guy' sounds like a tool... just poor advice
