There is a use for it... extreme 1 vehicles could do pretty well with it I think.

I think of woofers in how I can use them.
Wtf and I gonna use that jackhammer for? Like seriously for like 99% of car audio enthusiasts it has no frickin use. (Even in spl)
I highly doubt I could even fit that thing in my trunk (in a reccomended enclosure)
But you made that judgement with out even knowing anything about it......................

Guess you can't fit a 4-5 Cu Ft box in your car....................

I could see using one in a SUV or something... a pair in a wall in my car would be pretty cool too... but 300+ lbs per sub before you even build a box is kind of retarded for a daily driver...

really low fs probably isnt very ideal for SPL competetion either...

Well if you want something that no one else on the block has... you get one. It's a 22" woofer... It's not like it's going to be used in all cars. It's like if you want 26" rims, it's not like you're going to put them on a Civic... you get a vehicle that they fit on if you want them.

As for SPL comps... nothing is ever guaranteed... power, box and design all are major factors....

I will definately have to find a way to upload pics cause I saw pics of this woofer at CES! Got a closer up side angle of the cone.

I highly doubt I could even fit that thing in my trunk (in a reccomended enclosure), and I was able to fit 8 10's in there!
I don't care who makes it, I like mtx, it's just useless and a marketing gimmick for sure.
I don't care if ED made it, or Adire, or RE or any of those other "back alley" companies, as some "smart" person pointed out, it's still useless.
Well I haven't heard it yet so I can't comment on it being a "good" woofer... but I personally think it's an extremely COOL woofer and I hung around there and just saw the reaction on peoples face when they saw it... was kind of funny at times.

When they designed it, I don't think they looked at those 99% of people who could use it, I think they thought of that 1% of people that didn't want what the other 99% had.

The main purpose of this woofer in my opinion is to create hype around MTX products in general. It is a marketing tool. Not only does it create a buzz about the brand, but people often associate attributes of a brand's top of the line product with its lower line products.

Monstor subs are really nothing new either...

The local shop here in peterborough walled 2 ablahn 24" (or whatever they are) in a sunfire more then a couple years ago...

again... marketing...

but it sounded ok and got low like a mother-----

I still think 320lbs is retarded... a *real* R&D team could probably cut that by 2/3....

I suppose kicker will have a 25" solo-z that weights 450lbs by 2007
