Alright - everyone can put it away...
I think it is safe to say that products that receive a poor review never make print (ALL reviews are first sent back to the respective manufacturer for approval), products that get a mediocre positive review get 'politically correct' verbage, and those that are really nice are described as such. In all cases the manufacturer pays for the review and pays for an ad if the review makes print.
This is commonplace in the magazine industry.

DUMBASS! MOI! SURELY YOU ARE MISTAKEN MY FELLOW TORONTONIAN.
I have said nothing to the effect of whether or not the reviews are accurate or not. I have simply said that Mr. Mackinnon is well respected on this board and if he is intentionally misrepresenting products, someone on this board would have pointed out the discrepancies.
It appears that your comprehension skills are somewhat lacking. For your homework tonight, re-read the posts and apologize tomorrow.

You know what we need. We need a Mr. Moneybags with money to blow to make a quarterly magazine that has real reviews that are no , no watered down, sugar coated politically correct mumbo jumbo. Just a guy like Dave who tests equipment as sent to him by retailers (not manufactures) that he can do his magic on and publish his findings for better or for worse. This way the public can really see how crappy some of the stuff passed off as the bext stuff evar truly is.

veeman, the fact is that dave has nothing to do with anything......whether it be dave or anyone else it would still be done the same way. what u are doing is called Red Herring Falacy, look it up. keep the appologies.
MR2, i have had dave bench my amps before, dei 1100d's. and yes they fell short of their ratings. had this test been done for PAS im sure they would surpas the printed specs.

In fact just the other day, Pat Foran( I believe that's his name) on CFTO news did a consumer report on plasma tv's that clearly stated that the best brand of the test group was Panasonic. I found that interesting considering that SONY supplies all there monitors. That's just one example that came to mind. I have many more, but you are too dumb to waste my time. Anyway, if you think Mr. Mackinnon is a liar,"Dave is not a liar, but Dave is on the payrol." just say it man. Unless you are DUMB, you should understand what your statement implies. By the way, I don't believe anything until I check it out for myself.

PAS mag IS paid for the reviews. This doesn't guarantee a favorable review, but you MUST pay for ad space to even get your product put on his workbench.
When the reviews are written Dave gives the results honestly. If an amplifier produces 1234w RMS that's what gets published, regardless of the rating. However, if an amp doesn't perform to spec you DON'T see the review.
If the manuf. wants the review cancelled, and what company wouldn't, then you don't see the results.
So Dave isn't lying, he is just giving the manufactureres the chance to be selective in what information is put in to the mag. They pay for this priviledge with advertising
