I am a newbie to car audio. I wanted to replace my stock headunit with something that can play WMA files. A friend of mine from school has an awesome hookup on Clarion hardware, so I ended up purchasing the DXZ835MP headunit. Now I want to buy an amp and a sub. I know the Clarion amps are really good, but what about the Clarion subs? I cannot find anybody who has a Clarion sub! Does this imply that Clarion subs are inferior to the other makes out there? OK, I don't expect it to be nearly as great as JL, but would you consider them to be above average?

I want a single 10-inch sub so I have the XW1000 in mind.

Do you know anybody who has an XW-series subwoofer? Has anyone read any reviews about them? Good/bad? They certainly cost quite a pretty penny.

i know a guy who ran one 12 and now 2 of em. They arent gonna win any spl comps but in a nice sealed box and a decent amp (u dont need much power at all) all the 12's are on is a ancient RF 360.2 they hit clean, low and solid. I can only assume the 10's are the same....

i have got a complet clarion stereo and it rocks,i had two 12 type r's,not even close man mine are the dlp1251 and there clear and deep,i hit 142 on one voice coil then when changed to its dual voice i hit 145,there in a type R box so the box and the front of subs are all silver..looks and sounds nice, reccomend it i have them for sale, its a complete stereo,im not parting out everything is there that you would need, this stereo drains and needs alot of power running dual,my truck would not even run, so i had to buy a 800 kinetic battery which help significantly ...it was so loud that at scrape by the lake in niagara it blew out my front window...so really i guess its the setup and how you run your speakers, but if anyone is interested let me know...
