Question

Sup,

Basically just got a '03 Accent hatch. Looking to upgrade the stock stereo (it's CD and stuff just looking to upgrade).

Basically I'm not looking high end, just something DECENT. Like $500ish area total. Probably just get stuff from Best Buy/FS and let them install.

Looking to get a new deck (MP3 a must), new speakers (do I need em? 5.25" I think are accent fit), a sub and an amp. Thats all ya need when upgrading right?

Basically I've seen a few decks in the 250-280 range at FS. Speakers like 30-50 a pair, sub for 100 (Sony Xplode) and amp 100 (Sony Xplode).

This stuff decent? Any other recommendations? Do I need it all? Is it really an upgrade to the stock Accent system?

What is an amp actually for? The entire system or just the sub and the other speakers run off the deck?

I know jack, just looking for some tips.

Thanks.

I would spend the money on a decent MP3 deck (one with two or more pre-outs) and replace the stock speakers with decent ones. That will basically eat up $500 but will get you better sound. Save up some more money to buy a sub and amp to add to it. Those Sony sub/amp won't get you too far and will likely leave you wanting more.

Check the For Sale forum here for some deals.

Yeah, Lardass is selling his Alpine MP3 deck for a decent price, I have the same one, it is a sweet deck. It has many built in features too, that might save you money on separate gear down the road.

Cool

I don't know man...I find my Sony 12's to be pretty good for a budget sub...but who am I to say?

I have found if you look around at some of the used shops(pawn shops, etc)you can find some pretty sweet deals....

The store I bought my 2 Kicker Impulses used had a CV Stroker 18"...Box and all for $500...

But this is coming from someone who is working on a $-500 budget....LOL....

But thats my 2 cents......Can I get some change please?

Welcome to the Board man......Hope we can help you out!

Keep on Thumpin'!!

Cool

Only prob I ever had was when a show went thru one in the trunk of my car on the way to Banff!!

That sucked!!

Other than that..seem to hit hard for me....got me two second place wins last year...in a sealed box....and only 400 watts.......

But to each his own...

I can't wait to see what my Kickers will do!!

well I spent $200 plus tax for my deck and it's mp3, but it only has one pre-output but it sounds damn good and has an auto slide down panel, and is pretty easy to understand. I got it at walmart

Yeah, I still have that deck if you're interested. Get back to me and we can work out a deal for you.

Cheers,

Lardass.
