Ok so im new to all of this. Just got my car and would like to put a decent system in. looking to spend around $2000 including installation (cause im not even sure where to start and would be scared shitless to mess up). Touch screen gps and video playback. Have stock speakers right now and would def like to upgrade but am willing to put more money into them at a later date if necessary.

was looking at carpc's but they dont look like they are easy to install and cant find any info around about any places that do install.

any ideas would be appreciated.

The touch screen GPS is about all you're going to be buying with your budget... is it THAT important??? All right, chicks dig it but do you really get lost in your home town?? LOL Do that last after the rest of your system is complete (for the $2000!!!)

ok so ive been spending ALOT of time researching all this and it looks like ive settled on getting a mac mini for my car pc. Im not gonna mess with my speakers until later on since my G6 already has an ok set.

You can buy an intel mac mini for about $650 and a nice touch screen monitor for $300-$400 so your looking at about $1000 for that. then a gps antena, microphone for wireless phone and a airport wireless receiver are optionals that will add only a little bit more to the price.

Since the macs are already built the system is easy to set up. the only challange is getting it installed, making sure there is enough ventilation so the mac doesnt over heat and building it and the screen into the car so it looks sharp.... which is something im gonna spend a lot of time learning so i can save of paying someone to install it for me (I will need to redo the centre console on my g6 for the screen and i think im going to put the mac into the centre arm rest...) not even sure how much it would cost to have a pro do this kind of install....

anyway hope this helps a bit
