Red face A crazy plan of mine... lol

Heya, Currently, my computer speakers suck badly, so im planning to buy a car audio setup for my computer. I don't really care about normal speakers; what im really worried about is having a REALLY high powered bass pumping subwoofer. Currently, im using dual 10' 300watt titan subwoofers (12years old) and they are really weak. Just recently, the crossover and amp (Torn off an $80 home subwoofer) just blew. I can replace the transistor for $21, but i don't think its worth it. I think its time for an upgrade.

Before u read on, mind u, im just a beginner at electronics/car audio scene. Keep in mind im only a 15 year old geek.

So anyways, enough chat. Here are my questions:
1) MOST IMPORTANT: Is there anyway i can turn on a RMS amp without a car deck? Is there wires i can short to turn it on?

2) How many amps do i need to run a 300-800watt x-over+amp?
(I know i have a 12v powersupply, but it only has 1ampere output. I can get a better one if i wanted.)

3) Would i need a capacitor? if so, what kind/rating.

4) Whats a good setup that costs under $600? (Subs+amp+Xover or just sub+subamp AND deck if absolutely necessary)

5) If a 12v PSU with 1 ampere isn't enough, is it safe to connect it with a computers PSU? (I have a mushkin XP-650w PSU; 20A on (4) 12v rails or 44a on one rail)

I know this sounds crazy, but I really want to do this. Plus i'll use this setup for my future Lancer EVO X (2007-2008 maybe) Thanks in advanced.

PS: I'm looking for dual 10' (preferably) subwoofers. Please feel free to suggest a bigger or smaller one. (Mind u this is used for trance/techno music that range from 100bpm to 300+bpm)

PS2: Don't mention Home Audio stuff to me plz... I'm sick of that crap quality and expenses of it. (Sorry if i seem ignorant)

I would suggest simply buying a home audio or computer speaker setup. It will all work together, and be less expensive. There are alot of sales going on right now... and boxing day too. The reasons are numerous...

if you really want the good stuff, yes I will say this, home audio. if you prefer to stay ignorant, please stay so.

btw you won't need crazy subs in your home, unless you have a huge ball room.

Also 4 satellites at 53WRMS each................insane insane system.........

Boxing day is a good time to get a set like this from futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca

i second the z560 setup
logitech goes through so much tuning to get their ported boxes to sound just right.
i have a z2200 setup for my laptop.
and imo this little 8 will blow away a 10 and a 12 getting the same wattage.
they sound just amazing and i only have the z22's which are 200Wrms

and no dont wait untill boxing day lol
ORDER YOUR"S FROM NCIX.COM
its a canadian site where shipping is fairly cheap and their prices are usually better then stores

Who gives a if it will take 1-2 weeks
on ncix they are 180 bucks
in stores they are 240+

link coming---->THE SYSTEM THAT WILL OWN YOUR EARS!

that is the setup with an 8
here comes the 1000Wrms system that usually sells for over 400 bucks msrp.
500Wrms 10 inch sub 5 speakers

i have had these in my house for a little while, and i couldnt keep em because the ppl next door were old and dont like bass so....
you do the math lol

Well point is, i dont want a home audio/computer speaker system.. Cause if i get a car audio setup now, i can also use it for my future car. And yes, my computer setup is in the garage which is pretty big. Also, i sometimes use it for DDR tourneys and etc so i really need subs that can blast across a big room. Any suggestions still?

(BTW, I just need the subwoofers, nothing else. I already have a yamaha home audio system for normal speakers.

I agree it makes more sense to look for an amp that will run on 120volts... you shouldn't have a hard time finding a new plate amp with built in xover and a couple subs for around $600.. (check out partsexpress and ebay)

I run a behringer EP2500 for my subs with an external xover... benched out at almost 2700 watts when fed with 240volts....

I don't know of any commercial audio amplifers that run on 120V DC
