Hey guys, im just looking for your input on a new setup im thinking about doing, so i'll give you a little backstory


I used to have a 93 Dodge dakota that i had a Pioneer DEH-8600MP (loved that deck) and an old Rockford amp/12" Kicker L5 that probably had like 200rms going to it. Now this was a year or two ago and it sounded just awesome to me. But i ended up selling that truck and got something newer. So i just took all my audio stuff out and it was sitting for a couple months. I ended up selling my deck to a buddy.. and his goddamn car got stolen a few days ago...rip to that deck. And i still have the amp/sub. Sorry for getting off track but thats all part of my story here.

So, this brings me to today. I have a fullsize silverado now and i want to finish my system. Im currently running a Kenwood DVD/Nav Deck, and type s speakers all around. I'm gonna look at upgrading my components when i have a little more money but thats not to critical to me right now.

And on to the good stuff. I recently picked up a Kicker KX.2500.1 amp.. ******BADASS!

So i've fully run 0 Gauge into the cab and its all ready to go, except for the subs.

The old Kicker that i had, i hooked up when i got the amp, and with the gain turned right down, it literally smoked the Kicker. So that was the end of that. Now i need opinions on what i should put in its place.

I have never had a system this loud so i really dont know what i should be looking for.

So far i have done some looking into the RE line of subs. And i was talking to a guy from a local shop about doing Two (2) 18" RE SX subs in my backseat. And i from what i understand this thing is going to effin ****.

But i was kinda worried about using up my entire back seat.. so i looked more into the sx line. And they have the 15's aswell. Which require significantly less airspace. 18 = about 10ft and the 15 = about 6 feet.

So if i went with the 15 i could still put one seat in the back, but if im gonna get better sound with the 18 then i will still consider it.

I know the rms rating on these subs according to the website is 1000 watts. And the sheet on the amp says its putting out about 2800rms. So two 15's or 18's is only 2000 watts. Will i damage them if i running the amp high, because i know some subs go wayyyy past their rms rating.

Sorry for the really long writeup guys but im hoping to get some input before spending a good amount of money on these subs. If theres anything else you want to know just ask.

i ran 2 250 wrms kenwood typhoons off my zx1500.1 and never had a problem just gotta turn ure gain,bass boost etc down a bit more.
