And if you reading this - maybe you can give me an advice regarding head unit?
Here's the features that I must have in the unit:
- play WAV files from USB devices (FLAC would be best, but I already gave up on this)
- have some kind of Auto-EQ feature, as I don't want to spend time doing all this tuning myself.
Nice to have features:
- play regular CD's
- steering wheel remote control
Seems that P99RS does everything I need, but $1,350, while not exactly above my budget, is about twice as much as I'd like to spend on head unit.
So are there any other units with good sound that can play WAV from USB and have some kind of auto-adjustment that I could look at?

Pioneer still sells the 800PRS that has all of that minus the usb/iPod. you'll need an external add-on for that, but it'll bring your cost back down to half of the 99.
On a side note, my Pioneer rep just told me that Pioneer Canada won't have any more 99's until August. And they are only getting 10 units in. I pre-ordered 5!

I download my music into iTunes using their Apple Lossless system. It takes a regular disc and burns it at whatever it was made at. For example, Thriller was recorded at around 1000kbps. Whereas Led Zeppelin was around 700kbps. Most iPod recordings were set at 320kbps, until they came up with this.
When you're about to download into iTunes, select "download settings", then when it shows you 98kbps, through to 320kbps, go to the last option called lossless. It makes a huge difference!

if you plan on using an ipod, the integration with the unit is amazing.
i personally download everything in FLAC and just convert it to apple lossless.
using dbpoweramp, its very fast.
(and always use audiochecker to ensure they began as flac and no mp3's).
so there are options!
as far as itunes. do they offer actual lossless music? or are you just taking whatever quality and putting it into apple lossless format. ...because that kinda defeats the purpose if so.
