Ok I am gonna be getting my equipment together soon and I am planning on doing a custom fiberglass install in my trunk. I am wondering if there will be any difference in sound between an MDF box and a fiberglass box. If everything was the same.....interior volume, port size as well as type etc. would they both sound the same or would one have an advantage over the other. Also I am wondering what the best way to make a very curvy enclosure would be? I dont want to have to hold it in place as that wont be very accurate so I was thinking of using some chicken wire or something that will holds it shape when maniuplated. Then I would put a layer of fleece on both side to "encapsulate" the wire. Would this work or pose any problems?

If you have any tips on building fiberglass enclosures let me know.

Cool

if your system is mainly sq then you are going the right way. the diff btwn fiberglass and mdf is mainly flex. built right there will be hardly any flex with mdf, and some flex with glass. sound wise it is hard to tell the diff btwn them. when round shapes are needed glass is the only way to go. if you do as you say, and put fleece on each side of your wire you are going to have a very strong box. be sur though that the two sides get very well bonded together with resin, our your going to have probs with the layers vibrating together (real bad). if you've not done this before follow the directions with your glass for mixing the hardener, or you can catch it on fire. when you have your shape done the next step is "bondo stew". mix 8 parts bondo(with hardener) and 1 part mixed resin and use this cover your shell. the stew is really strong and flexs so it won't crack. it is also slightly runny and easier to keep smooth on your first app. should take about three apps of stew before your done. finish how you want. any other questions let me know. and tell me how it turned out. att pics if you can.
