As far as Scott Buwalda's car being bright, I disagree. I listened to it at Iasca finals last year and it was the smoothest sounding car at the show.
It had the best tonality of any car I listened to and if I had to pick a fault with it it would be in the imaging width department, which I would assume is because of the relocated seats.

Dereck, that's interesting what you said about width. While many people equalize pathlengths by pushing the seat waaaay back, they are also narrowing the angles of reception. Width naturaly is defined by this. I think in general, cars that achieve good width with the seats back, have the help of relective surfaces on the side of the car. Just something to think about....
I found better imaging in my car with the seats midway through the selection of travel.

With Scott's car in "listening mode" you can't get anywhere near the pedals, and I'm 6'1". I know that Mark would hate the car for that but other than a sacrifice in width Scott's car is the best I have heard to date. When you improve one thing in a car many times you will degrade something else, it's a balance of trade offs.

Dereck, considering I've never actually heard any of the top SQ cars, I probably am not qualified to speak of imaging in a car.
It is possible that Scott's car could make mine sound like an AM radio when compared side to side.

I have heard many cars that had way better width than Scott's car, but his sounds best to me because of it's tonality. It's great to have imaging and staging, but without tonality and sounding real, what's the point? I think most of the old school people on here will agree with that!
