Do I need my rear cross bar?
To get my sub into my car, I needed to remove the bar that runs across the car in the rear. I was wondering if I needed it for structural support, or if I can just leave it off. I can get a picture of it if needed. Oh ya, my car is a 96 golf if that helps

no you usually dont need it. some older cars came with this stb. if it is what im thinking it is strut tower braces are good for if you wanna make a corner at 90 lol, but if you dont do that often you should be fine, im thinking if it is only a strut tower brace, make it go through your box maby lots of work but atleast your car wouldnt fall apart.

Hey zinger, I think that is right what you are talking about. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow and post it just to be sure. Ya, I ain't gonna do many corners at 90 with a 15 inch sub in the back (not that I do to start with).

haha, drive it hard and drive it home. strut tower braces are a nice thing to have, and its not like it will affect anything on your car except how well the car corners. the less a shock tower can diflect and bent the more rubber stays on the ground. or you could just get a camber kit and go through a set of tires in a year lol.
